Daffodil Day Printed Campaign

printing.com were approached in 2016 to redesign the printed and online collateral for the Daffodil Day Campaign for Cancer Society New Zealand. The brief from the customer was to make a new look and feel for the campaign to raise awareness about Daffodil day coming up, and promote the ways in which people could donate.

The previous years design was a bit dark, dreary and solemn. The task was to make this year’s collateral like their TV Commercial in the sense that it should be upbeat, bright and more hopeful for such a serious, life changing topic.

Using the combined efforts of our three designers, we came up with three initial concepts, and then presented to the client in a way that explained our thought processes.

My idea was chosen as the lead idea, and so I would then manage the project.

After we had a rough idea of what worked for the layout, we got our photographer on board to take pictures of the models that would be used throughout the campaign.

Once we had the pictures, we altered them in Photoshop and used these images to finalise the design based on the customer’s needs.

We then rolled out the same designs across everything from magazines, newspapers, phantom billboards, their social media sites, web ad campaigns on the stuff.co.nz, MSN, Yahoo and even Spotify.

“printing.com are a strategic supplier for both our day-to-day printing needs and our 2016 national Daffodil Day campaign.

They were more than just a printer, they helped us with everything from design to advertising dispatching. As a slightly demanding client, we pushed the boat out a bit with our requests, but they consistently over delivered and under budget and you could not ask for more from a supplier partnership, we’re obviously
very happy.”
